How to plan a trip — How we did it

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009
  1. Find your travel mates
  2. Good travel mates is of the upmost importance. If you can’t stand them, your trip will be a nerve wrecking experience. Our former experience as travel mates include: Biking in Germany, Interrail in Europe and several adventurous trips to Djupen. Therefore we already know how to annoy each other and make it a miserable trip 😉

  3. Determine the destination
  4. Set a time, make commitments
  5. Buy the tickets early, we did it a year in advance — don’t give yourself the possibility to back out!

  6. Set up a Wiki
  7. Organize important information regarding the trip so you don’t forget it. And Eivind just wanted it.

  8. Hope for the best!
  9. Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong — Murphy’s law

Driving on the wrong side of the road

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

Visiting Cameron in Glasgow, we’re warming up for Road Trip ’09 with a drive in the Scottish Highlands. Just finishing a guided tour at the Auchentoshan Whisky Distillery — with the mandatory tasting afterwards — we’re now heading for Loch Lomond in our flashy rented Vauxhall Astra. Our two designated drivers both face different challenges — while Cameron always enjoys a taste of whisky, for Erlend staying on the right (left…) side of the road is enough to contend with. Fortunately we saved eight pounds by skipping the insurance…

Quote of the day:
Venstre side, Erlend!
